Field Tech 1

Field Technician 1- Job Summary: Assists other technicians on a job site and complete structured cable installations.

Duties and responsibilities of Communication Technician:

  • Install cable tray and supports correctly.

  • Rough in various types of cable above ceiling or raised floor.

  • Set up cable reels or boxes in preparation for installation.

  • Dress cables in pathways and work areas.

  • Dress cable down a wall and/ or thru modular furniture.

  • Install cut outs, install faceplates, and terminate jacks.

  • Assemble racks and or cabinets.

  • Terminate CAT5E, CAT6, CAT6A, RG6, RG11 jacks. Mount faceplates and surface mount boxes correctly. Adhere to labeling standards.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of connector color codes.

  • Develop basic skills in terminating patch panels and wiring blocks.

  • Job requirements for Communication Technician:

  • Must be able to work in a construction area at heights, on a ladder and confined spaces.

  • High school graduate or GED.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with supervisors.

  • An ability to distinguish colors of communication materials.

  • Must be self-motivated and professional.

  • Must provide own transportation to the job site and consistently be on time ready to work.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

  • Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Able to work in heights and confined spaces.

  • Operate hydraulic aerial lifts and ladders mounted to trucks.

  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance.

  • Keep work areas clean and organized. Keep detailed record of work activity.

  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

  • Must be available to work any shift and On-call rotation required. Willing to travel. 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, basic Computer skills.

  • Set up a safety perimeter using signage, cones, and/or safety barriers.

  • Proficient with use and maintenance of optical splicing and test equipment (OTDR, OLTS, VFL, OPM, OPI/Traffic Identifier)

  • Proficient with hot cuts, maintenance window, CO/NOC communications with a tester/MSO technician

  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot various fiber architecture including DWDM, CWDM mux/splitters and equipment.

  • Proven leadership experience to assist and direct workflow to produce the highest quality results.

  • Knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and related state and local codes.

  • Able to work in heights and confined spaces.

IT Support Specialist

IT Support Specialist- Job Summary: Trains other technicians on a job site to complete structured cable installations.

 Duties and responsibilities of a IT Support Specialist:

  • Assist all employees with any computer or IT related issues

  • Create, add and modify user accounts and services across our various cloud platforms

  • Assist users over the phone, in-person, and remotely using multiple platforms

  • Administration of Active Directory, Azure, Sharepoint, Exchange, Office365, EndPoints, firewalls, load balance, email filter, backups, phone systems, mobile devices, and any other IT-related software

  • Office365 support setting up devices and email clients, tablets, mobile phones, and computers

  • Understanding of virtual desktop environment and remote desktop technology

  • Configure, deploy, and relocate desktops, laptops, printers, and any other related devices

  • Identify, report, and respond to potential cybersecurity threats

  • Setting up advanced network firewalls and switches

  • Identify, troubleshoot, resolve, and document end-user system issues requests

  • Ensure all requests are resolved promptly and with high-quality results

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet established deadlines

  • Provide technical documentation for configurations and procedures

  • Coordinate and create scope of work with various telecom contractors

  • Regularly perform cabling and equipment installation

  • Open and follow up with tech support from vendors such as internet providers, cloud solutions, consultants, etc.

  • Research, design and deploy new solutions required by end-users

    Required skills and experience:

  • Excellent communication and personal skills in bi-lingual English/Spanish (speak, read and write) preferred

  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in a help desk/IT support role

  • Certifications such as A+ / Network + / Microsoft are preferred but not required

  • Experience in the set-up, configuration, and use of computer hardware, software, and networks

  • Ability to communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical employees

  • Proficient in troubleshooting and supporting Windows servers, VMWare, Hyper V, Windows 10/11, and Office 365

  • Quick analytic response to resolve issues in any situation

  • Self-motivated and willing to learn, as well as always find the solution

  • Able to work in a fast pace environment

  • Advanced level knowledge in the use of all office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Basic understanding of Cloud Solutions & Cloud Computing

  • Knowledge of wireless networks, set up maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Knowledge of video conference systems, cell phones, smartphones, iOS, iPadOS, and other common hardware devices and software

  • Experience providing remote support via phone and remote-control applications desired

  • Experience supporting and configuring iPads/iPhones/smartphones in an enterprise environment preferred

  • Experience in telecom, structured cabling, panels, switches, cameras, APs, etc.

  • A background check will be required

  • The ability to work under pressure in a high-pressure environment with numerous tasks handled simultaneously

  • Be able to lift at least 50 lbs. individually

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overtime, on an on-call rotation

  • The position will require travel between multiple LA plants and occasionally to Houston, TX

  • Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies, you will have the opportunity to learn about all computer systems and any of our technologies when looking to expand your knowledge and career to another internal IT position
